Music is a vehicle for self expression, creative thinking, community, and confidence
Growing up as a queer, transgender person, my passion for playing and writing music gave me an identity and an outlet where I could be my fullest self. Having that experience gives me empathy when I teach because I know, for some of my students, music is a life-force. I compose as a way of working through my identity, similarly, I strive to lead my students in exploring their diverse identities through music. I live for the moments where my students feel empowered to share their own creative voice. My lessons build on a student's natural curiosity to develop a lifelong love of music.
